Picture a child who is just being a child…they have big emotions, they’re learning to experience the world, and sure, they make mistakes. Rather than sitting with children through their meltdowns or teaching them to regulate their emotions, the parent punishes them for them. Maybe they spank the child or issue threats like “I’ll give you something to cry about”. Maybe they ignore the child to discourage the emotional response. Eventually, the child learns which emotions are acceptable and which ones aren’t.

One person responded to my comment pondering if women are considered “ugly” when they get older or if it’s just the current climate. My take based on observation is this—emotionally immature (read: narcissistic) people (most commonly men) prefer girls and younger women because they’re easier to control and have yet to learn to set boundaries.
